This revelation that authors were excluded from the #Hugos ballot to appease China is inexcusable. If a venue can corrupt the process, the solution is simple: go elsewhere. These awards have lost all credibility going forward. Once credibility has been lost, you can't unhinged that bell.

The idea that Congress would have to "activate" the Constitution's insurrection clause to disqualify a candidate is patently absurd. What if Congress had to "activate" the First Amendment wherever someone sought to invoke it? Or how about the Second Amendment? Conservatives would LOVE that!

Trump's #SCOTUS arguments that he's not an "officer" of the U.S. and that one can "preserve and protect" the Constitution but not "support" it are absurdist interpretations of language and intent that must be soundly rejected.

I just got done reading an article on the #Hugos. With that level of corruption and unexplained bias, I honestly don't see how these awards have any credibility left - especially after the "sad puppies" debacle a few years back.

Trump has conditioned the right to (falsely) equate anger and mistrust with "strength." Meanwhile, many on the left demand outrage as a prerequisite for acceptance. With so much animosity going around, is it any wonder we're so divided?

For all of you in favor of blackballing artists, I'd kindly refer you to the ghost of Joseph McCarthy. He knew a lot about that particular subject. It's far more impactful to stand up FOR what you believe in than it is to jump on bandwagons and play whack-a-mole with everyone who offends you.

Being an author doesn't make you the world's ethics cop. You have no obligation to comment on every literary scandal that comes down the pike or block other authors as a sign of outrage. You have just two responsibilities: to live your own best life with integrity... and to WRITE!
