Rush an interaction and startle her into a defense. Melia is also hesitant to leave her kennel, requiring coaxing or for one of the staff to go into the kennel to reassure her. She's definitely not dog social, and needs an owner who understands resource guarding and separation anxiety.

They did and the information I posted previously is based on what they said. Melia's basically a "special adoption": She resource guards both her food and toys, going stiff and standing over the item if someone reaches toward either. Which I think explains the biting - someone inexperienced might

However, she definitely needs a certain type of household, one that's calm, with adults only, and one with the time/ability to be extremely patient and kind in regards to acclimating Melia to her surroundings.

I sent an email. It hurt to continue seeing her, so I asked questions towards the possibility of adopting her. Melia has been returned for biting issues. However, judging by the description of Melia as shy, nervous, and slow to warm up, I'm thinking it was a stress response, not a behavioral issue.
