Yes, but a lot of places won't let you in for longer than a vacation if you're not at least moderately wealthy or if you don't have some sort of savings. Residency usually has some pretty high financial barriers. There's also the difficulty of getting a job (legally or otherwise) and moving costs.

Except this wasn't one election cycle. Fascists need social and political instability to take hold. They prey on fear. Comfortable, happy people don't elect fascists. They've been setting the stage for this administration since Reagan and it's taken that long for them to get all the pieces in place.

Honestly, I don't know the best way to explain it to people, I can't say I've had a great track record with people believing me when I talk about it. Though I would argue that fascism has definitely had it's tendrils in the US for most of if not all our history in some way shape or form.

Oh it's been looming for years. We've been warning people for YEARS. It's been in the works for a long time and only a surprise to people who weren't paying attention before.

Not really though. Every country is vulnerable to it, but some are much further from it and at much lower risk. And "not fascist yet or in the foreseeable future" is a significantly better situation to be in than "rapidly descending into genocidal fascism".

That's good news! New Zealand has always seemed like a bastion of hope in the sense that it's miles ahead of my own country and I hope that we learn to follow your example on most things. Seeing it slip is awful, though I know it's worse for y'all when it happens.

How would you rate Mexico? Specifically looking at Guadalajara and Jalisco state. If I have to pack up, it might be my only option.

That makes sense to me, purely because kids have much more sensitive taste buds than adults, so probably tastes a little stronger to him and possibly overwhelming. Even good things can be too much. He'll probably like it stronger as he gets older!

Oh that is wild to me. I went to college in Iowa, and I remember everyone hating on Pete Buttigieg as a poser or something, and everyone going real hard for Bernie. That could have just been my college though, we were pretty insulated from the rest of the state in a teeny tiny town.

I'm pretty sure they'd just come up with some insane bullshit and their bootlickers would cover for them like "oh no, you don't understand, this is what he REALLY meant"

We have to make it as tediously high security as ACT tests, but more so. And have the whole thing publicly televised live, so the whole world can see if they're cheating. There are few people I trust less than politicians to be honest on a test.

To be fair, I'd probably get those wrong too. I don't buy anything often enough to remember how much it costs, and every time I'm grocery shopping what runs through my mind is "oh shit I don't remember that costing that much". I buy bread maybe once every few months, and I don't usually buy milk.

It's like when adults call their real dad "Daddy" or their real mom "Mommy", except instead of having an innocent origin that got corrupted, it was always degenerate.

It's not my thing but I've known enough adult littles that it's so gross to hear kids called by it. It's for adults only y'all.
