Finally getting to a good place with this presentation! It's still not nearly as much data as I'd hoped to have ready by this point, but that's the way it goes! Come see me next week at #IAGLR2025!

Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

🚨 My lab is hiring at all levels!

Interested in animal origins & evolutionary cell biology?

I'm recruiting a postdoc, PhD students & a research assistant to study the molecular evolution of cell adhesion using marine invertebrates + comparative genomics.

So far, Republicans would rather shut down the government. So Americans face flight delays, reduced services, and mounting economic damage.

It's time for Trump and Republicans to change course on health care and reopen the government.

My life changed when I first read "The Sea Around Us." Rachel Carson's words captured my 13-yr old sense of wonder for a place I barely knew but felt for so deeply, the ocean. Honored to speak to her legacy @agu.org and grateful to my colleagues for the nomination 🌊💙

I'm doing a government thing! Hubs has been on the zoning board for 2 years now and gave me a pep talk: "Don't expect to accomplish anything". Thanks....

Mars was the Roman god of war.
That’s why we say ‘martial arts,' ‘martial law,' and 'court martial.'

Marshall was the Roman god of designer fashion at discount prices.
That’s why we have Marshall’s.

Maybe. But my mom is 75, with
a history of heart disease and a 3x cancer survivor. A little dehydration
isn't a potential death knell for me like it is for her. Also I'm on the other side of the continent, if shit goes sideways im 2 days away at best, I need a heads up.

Letting the health care tax credits expire would devastate American families — and we’re making that crystal clear by giving you the data.

We’ve built graphics showing how much costs would rise in every GOP district.

Let’s start with Mike Johnson (R-LA):

Also, same with my mom....I had just started my new job and didn't find out she'd had a heart attack and stent insertion until after she was home from the hospital.
dralgaegirl.bsky.social
What IS IT with that generation?! Are they worried we'll send them to a leper colony?
dralgaegirl.bsky.social
I get that...but if things go south, I'm on the other side of the continent. Even if I drop everything to rush to her, it's 2 days at least. I need a bit of warning.
dralgaegirl.bsky.social
Probably not, but I'm also not 75, with a history of heart disease and a 3x cancer survivor. A little dehydration isn't a potential death knell for me like it is for her.
dralgaegirl.bsky.social
Why do our parents generation insist on not keeping us informed of their health because they "don't want to bother us"? Just found out my mom was in the hospital last week with food poisoning....

Dear Blackboard: If I'm clicking the option to make a comment bubble, why do I then have to click in the comment bubble?! Why can't my cursor just go over there - LIKE IT USED TO?!?!
dralgaegirl.bsky.social
Probably! Some algae are bigger than a lot of common tissue cells.

I've never used Canvas from the instructor side 🤷‍♀️ I know we were shown a preview and it didn't seem much different from Blackboard in terms of functionality. But maybe the don't break as much what was already working?

Blow by blow of tonight’s emergency hearing re Trump’s ordering of federalized national guard to Oregon. Great work as always by @annabower.bsky.social and @lawfaremedia.org .

Ok, here we go.

The case is called and Judge Immergut explains the background. She says there were technical difficulties, which caused the delay.

In late April, we welcomed a brand-new American Red Wolf pup to the pack! With less than 30 individuals left in the wild, this little girl is a crucial part of her species' conservation success. Luckily, she's doing well and has recently found her voice 🐺🎶🌍
