A shame this happens to some of our best & brightest designers.

Starting the conversation and talking in the open is how we make steps towards fair solutions to these problems. Or at least that's the theory - in practice publishers need to play ball to make any of this stick.

Today's video was a hard one for me to make - I wanted to talk about my experiences going through burnout in the last year or so as a game designer, and aspects of the wider tabletop industry that contribute to that.

I almost joked in my response that this is "a publisher problem" 🤣

I do not know the difference between the two. Mostly use poker-sized card unless I require much smaller or much larger cards.

yikes on bikes is such an adorable phrase Arwen! 🤣💖

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Do you have a ritual for whenever you "finish" a game?

I know one designer that frame prints of their game's cover art. Maybe you make some copies for yourself on TGC or some other service? I know for Stonewall I hand-made some shirts for me and some cool cats I know.

What about you?

Everything about this picture is just perfect. The faces, the clothes (loving that Charlie shirt), the people - it's all so good!

BOX COVER REVEAL!

It's hard to put into words how proud I am of our team at @pickpocket.games. Design is brilliant (Pete McPherson @peterlmcpherson.bsky.social), art is beautiful (Leslie Herman), graphic design is sleek (Seth Nickerson). Support our small team by following the Kickstarter.

This is a huge loss. Zerua was putting out cool stuff on the regular and it's a shame they'll be leaving. Don't blame them one bit, but boy is it unfortunate. 😢

We're closing! Last chance to get our games. Thanks yall!

Loving these icons, especially the centipede and the Matuk ones.

I really like Propaganda's cover. It shows off the core concept behind the game so brilliantly!

Realized me & a codesigner been working on one project (Punch) for a year now!

Game is awesome, kind of frustrating it isn't greenlit still - but they've already paid us some dollars so that helps.

This is the cover for my IGNM release - Fold & Fly! 🌈🛫

Syd Weiler did the illustrations for the game, and they totally nailed the vibe I was aiming for! Plus I am always excited to have vibrant colors accompanying my games.

Let me know what you think!
The cover for Fold & Fly! printed on fancy gloss paper. It shows many paper airplane flying in a circle around the game's title in the center. In the background are many unique paper airplanes with differently colored trails of color behind them. At the bottom is a checkerboard flag waving in the wind.

The cover is on a bench in a park, which green grass and a blue sky in the background.

It is the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen, and if you stare at it deeply enough you feel a strange connection you've never felt before. As if it is beckoning you to come to its side, to be near to it at it's release in November of this year (2025).

You find yourself in a trance - mentally craving more of it's beauty & mystique. You know deep down this is becoming a problem - you (likely) have a partner and you cannot betray their trust. Not after all you've been through.

But Fold & Fly's cover, releasing in November at the Indie Game Night Market, is teasing you so. You turn away and try to go about your day - performing some busywork here and there. Start some mild innocuous conversation with a stranger, but the craving continues to burn deep inside. Like an addiction that keeps you coming back for more of its addicting addictioness.

You know the game isn't available yet. It doesn't release until PAX Unplugged, located in Philadelphia. You still have plenty of time to get badges and solve travel plans - and maybe this will be what convinces you to finally make the trek. It's been on your radar but now that this game exists the convention seems tantalizing in a way no event has ever felt before.

But what about your (likely) partner? You can't leave them out in the cold? It becomes obvious - blindly so! You must go to PAX U this November, attend the Indie Game Night Market and buy them a copy as well! Surely they'll love it! And not suspect you of having a para-social affair with this small print-run dexterity game. How ridiculous! How absurd! They never need to know...

Definitely gonna want to take a peek at this at PAX U 👀

I think you should host Big Dan's Game Emporium!

Try to sell or hand off copies of the games you don't like (but tell us they are great just to get people to walk away with some).

Syd also did the very cute & very gay banner image on my bluesky profile. 😊🌈

so THAT'S what the f stands for! 🤯

Next week I get to play my next signed game at a local university and then talk about the design with the students.

What fancy 10-dollar words should I use to impress them?

I really need to try out Boast or Nothing! Heard nothing but positive buzz about that one.
