British/Australian - Communication and Media academic and writer interested in media effects on human society.
Everything interests me, especially communication, media, language, music, technology, complexity, and contradiction.
The conflict over Australia's National Day is not new. The history is easily accessible even to ignorant media commentators like poor excuse for a journalist, Karl Stefanovic, or manipulative self-serving sociopaths like Hanson. Australia needs to have a mature debate.

@theguardian.com - here you go I fixed your tepid, and possibly defamatory headline about bully Farage

How easy it is for all of these people to "call for" a Royal Commission without considering the expense as well as the legal limitations.

Chris Minns, and others like him in the ALP, should read their own party's constitution - especially Objective 5 (n).
If they are contravening it, can members organise to expel them?

It must be great to have a senior executive position with Goldman Sachs and take off as much time as you like to travel and pursue political activities.
That's the Goldman Sachs that's heavily committed to Israel.
Surely the Australian media should report this interest?

Why Venezuela?
Why now?

Not drugs.

An otherwise interesting article in Mumbrella argues - the money's already been spent, so we need to invest more resources!! WHAAAT! If the terms of the contract weren't met the contractor must be liable to make it right ... unless some fool signed off the work as acceptable and complete

Does the Australian Government pay any attention to its own inquiries.
How quickly the work of the Senate inquiry into consultants has been shoved aside.
BTW Accenture is based in Ireland - why not use Australian businesses.

"shareholders" - such a nebulous term - are people in companies that support this - and their companies also have shareholders - it is an interconnected web of self-interest. Now all CEOs will 'benchmark' their payments to this abomination of greed.

According to the Senate roll, P.Hanson has attended 23/31 2025 sitting days - about 2/3rds of the schedule. In that time she's only introduced TWO motions, also showing her priorities/obsession - NOT cost of living, health, education but this ⬇️

... the panels and battery subsidies for home solar seems to have done more to promote renewables across all homeowner demographic groups than any other policy.

I'm not suggesting people physically confront the thugs but recording and verbally acknowledging - from a safe distance - what's happening at least shows disapproval and without that there's the danger of descent into a "spiral of silence. "

Another tepid headline from @nytimes.com as it does its best to transform into the approved state-sponsored media organisation.
Yet every week it publishes a climate change news update.
Do the staff there ever talk to each other?

How do YOU define accurate? ... between 1993 and 2019 "a third of the estimates of the 2PP vote, Labor’s first preferences, and the LNP’s first preferences, involved errors greater than those attributable to sampling error".
October 22, 2025 at 11:44 AM
There is not "room" in the surveys if the question is not asked. As for the election results the 2PPP system disguises dis-satisfaction, even though it is preferable to FPTP. But people who study this closely have more to say on the topic ..

@davidpocock.bsky.social disbarred for politicisation?

How does the club explain its changed status to a lobbying group? And how in a logical universe could a club associated with the national parliament NOT be political? For many years previous public communication CELEBRATED the association.

Absolutely, but many freelance journalists don't have the advantage of an existing profile - they are just out there trying to do the work. And the MSMs position was obvious from the start - I gave a paper on this in 2019.

Israel occupies the ocean as well as Palestine - breaking International law again and again by denying access by sea to Palestinian Territory. The world has allowed this and turned a blind eye to Israel's criminal behaviour for decades.
Ukraine's sovereignty is precious.
So is Palestine's.

@markbutlermp.bsky.social one of many voices speaking up about the problem of the US, but you sent me this pathetic copperplate response to a legitimate inquiry.
Read the room.

Arguments and policies based on racism, sexism, gender phobia, and general bigotry are NOT "disagreements." A disagreement is whether blue would be a better colour to paint the kitchen than teal. The clue is in the word.

Just wondering which England the Robinson crowd want to implement, is it the pre-Elizabethan one? Ironically, many are probably descendents of the waves of 'strangers' arriving in England over many centuries. And then there are those who moved FROM England as migrants themselves.
