Harvard hires drag performer and scholar Kareem Khubchandani -- better known as “LaWhore Vagistan” -- as a visiting professor in gender and sexuality studies. Conservatives are fuming. 🌈🎓 #LGBTQ #Drag #Harvard

Good discussion with someone who was initially told he couldn't study computer science at uni because he is blind. Spoiler alert: he could, he did, and he is now employed as a computer scientist. #UKHE really needs to get better at understanding disability

I find it interesting that racial capitalism is what gets him shipwrecked in the first place.

Preparing to lecture on Robinson Crusoe tomorrow. Been a few years since I read it.

Well, if it’s 23 September... YES, THAT’S RIGHT! It’s the 71st anniversary of the hunt for the Gorbals Vampire, in which hundreds of children aged from four to 14, armed with dogs, knives and sharpened sticks went looking for an urban myth
Daily Mirror front page shows grainy image of horde of children in a cemetery, and the headline “Amazing scene as hundreds of children rush cemetery”

A very enjoyable thread - thank you. I think children were also involved in the Highgate case but maybe someone was conflating the stories.

There’s a certain kind of straight man who also sings ‘bananas in pyjamas’ to himself to dog whistle a homophobic slur & in my direct experience that man is always, without exception, wrecked looking. The confidence he must have to pronounce upon anyone should be studied.

Very clear protesting a Far Right demo
today in Canterbury that the group I stood with were a real cross section of people: age, gender, ethnicity, religion. The Far Right were quite the opposite. Totally unrepresentative of England in 2025.

Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here! When refugees are under attack what do we do? Stand up, fight back!

Canterbury is anti-fascist!
Sign says Starmer look at what you’ve wrought Signs saying among other things: tolerating racism is racism Sign that says: I can’t get a GP appointment either but I am not harassing children. The far right attack today is on a centre that temporarily houses refugee children in Canterbury. Sign that says: your racism is not patriotism

Today people went around my neighborhood in north east London spray painting St George’s crosses onto people’s homes. Many of these houses have non British people living in them.

This is getting very dark, very quick.

The scenes on our streets are shameful consequences of decades of austerity - government after government fanning the flames of anti migration instead of tackling inequality.

We can & must make different choices. Solidarity to all communities under attack. We stand together.
