In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the fastest and easiest way to get from Lindsay to Bobcaygeon was by steamboat. The Trent Valley Navgation Company (under the leadership of local lumber baron Mossom Boyd) operated a fleet throughout the Kawarthas, with the Esturion as their flagship.
