I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

I think this is bang on, and gets at a sense of what I see in play with stuff from Dwarf Fortress and Qud to Rimworld to Crusader Kings and the Sims: a desire to understand the world, whether a familiar or an alien one, through play

One phenomenon I found fascinating while playing was the way in which my schedule / planning was built around my own weaknesses as a player, I am rlly bad at packing lunches and therefore had to choose between being full but needing more exercise, or being hungry but relying on energy drinks.
