Sigh, now we have to have another synod or some such council.

Meanwhile your average person was all, “Sure, here’s some wine and bread.”

For some reason, my small brain remains blown out by Christians getting so out of joint and going to war over what happens during the Eucharist. Greek philosophy really did a number on a lot of people! To the point of distraction! My Reformation Europe class was fun.

Lol autocorrect tried to make it “Noicene Creed” and sure, I like it

I’d consider myself one of those former (more of a Nicene Creed advocate if you’re going to go for generalizations; longer discussion there), and my church people got very “Uhhhh” when it came to Leviticus, let’s move past that, Numbers is fun, oh no Deuteronomy OH NO

This also reminds me that Michael Chabon’s The Yiddish Policemen’s Union hits at the heart of a certain branch (maybe branches) of American Christianity in the most fascinating way.

Christian eschatology (especially American) is wild. WILD. And it really does affect so much of modern history!
December 27, 2025 at 5:01 AM
I know this from a Christian denomination because it’s extremely important to both to the Old Testament peoples and therefore is important to the New Testament peoples and it’s wild that no one in the churches ever really talks about it!

Man, I can’t wait for the follow-up Easter storyline where Mary is just blasting Radiohead’s “Myxomatosis” at anyone who mentions the Easter Bunny.

@tbyrne75.bsky.social I can’t help it. The Spider-Man theme song is too darn catchy!

There truly is nothing about all of this I don’t love (my gosh, that Shermy dance; is that 5 doing a Beatnik thing?), but Linus’s dance that includes the blanket is magnificent.

I also just realized that Sally’s dress and Linus’s blanket are the same color. Oh, my gosh.

“Pig-Pen” (in quotes!) is laying down some killer bass lines. Look at all that Nebuchadnezzar dust! I absolutely want to treat him with more respect!

You know you’ve made it which you can casually toss out references to the Toast Sandwich of 1861!

“But if a person is murdered on that farm, and you have a Chicano detective coming into that world and describing that world in order to solve the crime, then you have a much broader audience willing to find out about that world because of the genre. It’s one reason why I keep doing it.”
December 17, 2025 at 3:58 AM
“The best thing politically I like about the mystery genre is that if you write a book about a Chicano farm worker in central California and his trials and tribulations, the only people who read it are people who are that or who are interested in that world.”
