Agatha Christie’s The Big Four is silly as all hell, but it’s a lot of fun.

“Think of everything, don’t you?”

“Most things,” said Poirot complacently.

@thefienprint.bsky.social I am sure I have said this to you before, but gosh dang it if Quiz Show isn’t just an incredible (and incredibly underrated) movie.

Heck, yeah, it’s Saturday afternoon and we’re eating popcorn and watching Quiz Show.

@ghardison.bsky.social Hey, it’s unclear.
Breaking: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey are being investigated by the Trump DOJ for allegedly obstructing law enforcement activities, two U.S. officials told WCCO.

It's unclear how Walz and Frey allegedly obstructed law enforcement or what they were allegedly obstructing.

@hotdogsladies.bsky.social Apropos of various things, have you ever listened to the Billy Taylor Trio’s My Fair Lady Loves Jazz? If not, could be up your alley.

That Thing You Do! is a perfect movie. It does everything it sets out to do. I always forget how hard Tom Everett Scott goes at the drums. Of course he uses traditional grip!

@ghardison.bsky.social Good grief, these are possibly the most soulless eyes I’ve ever seen.
Marco Rubio: "It had to be done. And it's been done. And I assure you the people left behind in Venezuela now that are in charge of the police and everything else, I assure you they are gonna probably be a lot more compliant than Maduro was as a result of this."

So while David Suchet deserves all the Poirot praise, I gotta shout out the Fraser portrayal of Hastings and the Jackson portrayal of Japp. And Moran as Miss Lemon? The best.

One thing I like about Agatha Christie is that she wasn’t afraid to use big words and she managed to not sound pretentious while doing so. Not easy!

@thefienprint.bsky.social I finally sat down to watch the Burns & Co. (I realize other excellent people directed, produced, wrote, and made it, but he really is a brand) The American Revolution, and I laughed out loud when I heard Tom Hanks, quoting a reverend, gently exclaim, “Philadelphia!”

Walter Mosley has a line out there I can’t find the source of (although I have the whole quotation; maybe NYT), but he talks about how the mystery genre can make a person interested in a world they might not have otherwise been except for the genre.

That’s how Wake Up Dead Man reads to me.

@briancgrubb.bsky.social This is easily the best headline of the week and it’s only Sunday
It seems the raccoon might have a problem — and it’s not just drinking.

The raccoon, famously known for its Nov. 29 drunken spree at a Virginia liquor store, is suspected of sneaking into multiple businesses in the same shopping center.

@comicsinthega.bsky.social I technically think that Charlie Brown has the best moves in A Charlie Brown Christmas (besides Snoopy).

1. Hot skip on his way to taking the Christmas tree places.
2. Hot side jump with the “What?!” when seeing what happened to his tree.

Charlie Brown: Coooooolll
