It's the same thing as the "War on Christmas." Christians have such a stranglehold on our culture that they take acknowledging other beliefs or even just celebrating a Christian holiday differently as an assault on their way of life (or just a threat to their dominance).

No one was cutting Christians out of the chaplaincy. They continue to make up the overwhelming majority of the Chaplain Corps. The last numbers I could find (2017) put Christians as an overwhelming 97% of chaplains. 66% of chaplains are Evangelicals.

That's exactly why the press pool has been replaced with Matt Gaetz and Laura Loomer. They can't risk anyone goading him if he trundles out during a press conference. Hell, they're probably afraid he'll goad himself into admitting it if he rambles for a couple minutes.

One of the things that would be amazing is more direct quotations. When they fix these things or "summarize" his statements into something coherent, it props him up and makes him look sort of capable. And it gives people more opportunity to say he hasn't lied about everything, the media did.

I have been resisting the urge to read it because I decided next year would be the year for This Year, one song per day. But I suspect I will be taking a copy to my annual Christmas book exchange next year, once I have allowed myself to dive in.

Yeah, I feel like the "anti-AI" people who like to dunk on AI by showing the funny things it gets wrong conveniently forget that they are still utilizing and normalizing AI. And it further feeds the machine.

Yeah, whenever the discourse veers into accepting the very people who will never believe in actual solidarity, I question who stands to gain from that (hint: it's not the workers).

That is a really good way to think about it. I'd show love and patience to someone doing their best, and it's easier to think of doing so for my body than just my nebulous "self." I am going to try this, too. Thank you for sharing.

White House Press releases are also prime examples of bias.

Great performance of that, Steal Smoked Fish, Song for Dennis Brown, and so many others. This show was even better than the last time they came to town.

Not only that, but a lot of the time, what they are agreeing with isn't even what he said or will do. I think Kei cars are great, but his incoherent rambling about unilaterally getting them built in the US isn't even a policy, and it will neither do what he claims or be good for the country.

The squirrel monkeys of Ishigaki were also theives. But a crow was more discerning in stealing from them.

Nah, you need a bunch of monkeys and typewriters for that, I hear.

His first success was having his startup purchased by the company that became PayPal, who kept him on as CEO briefly. They then ousted him while he was traveling so they could have a better CEO. Everything since then has just been through sheer force of wealth.

Do you think they are bad enough with technology to accidentally pay out a few requests labeled "Portland Donation" or similar? Obviously to burner accounts, not anything they could easily trace back to someone.
November 15, 2025 at 6:53 AM
I'm not saying it's a good idea, but what do you think the odds are that they are bad enough with technology that a few Venmo requests that say Portland donation would slip by and get paid out?

Counterpoint: The GOP controls both houses of Congress, the Presidency, and the Supreme Court. When the Dems have control, the GOP wants them to reach across the aisle to find solutions. When the GOP has control, they want everyone to capitulate to their demands. They could have compromised.
