I recently came up with a brilliant idea for a Christmas movie and I hate Christmas movies.

Unemployment isn't a problem if covid wipes out the workers right?

Pirate it if the concern is giving Larian money, the game rules. Also incredible how much good will they burned, fans wanted to throw more money at them because of the quality of BG3.

I keep saying this, but the extremely wealthy would rather own an apocalyptic wasteland of burning rubble, than share a prospering planet.

I remember leaving the theater and thinking "James Cameron tricked us into watching Titanic again."

Incredibly relatable. Also I feel like I saw a story like this from @annazand.bsky.social is this the same moment from the other side? 🤔

Rest definitely no one can sustain themselves purely on righteous outrage or grim determination indefinitely. We're social creatures you have to seek out joy and respite. Just don't give up. If you're reading this I hope you remember that you are not alone. As long as their are people there is hope.

Not everyone can be reached. But don't right people off for being ignorant or living in a state that always votes red. Some of the most stalwart Comrades you will meet are in red states. I spent half my life in the Southern US. I saw it first hand. The fight is only over if you give up.

These horrible fascists are in the minority. We have a lot of reckoning to do and a lot of education to get through. You can't teach someone who doesn't want to learn, but if you approach them with genuine curiosity about their lives they will be way more receptive to your ideas.

But by far the most consistent emotion I've felt this year is hope. And I owe that all to my local Comrades. If you're not organizing in your own community you need to start. If the state of the world is overwhelming look for neighbors and friends who want to work together to build a better world.

Counterpoint: even in a system with perfect collective bargaining and workers' rights, hurling slurs at customers would be more than enough to get you fired for cause, and that's a good thing.

To clarify this wasn't meant to be pedantic I was saying this in support of the idea anyone can use the force it just varies on difficulty. There is a theory elsewhere in the thread that midichlorians go up as your connection to the force grows not the other way around, which is a fun interpretation
December 12, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Not that it is a significant distinction but everyone has midichlorians and is connected to the force. It's the volume of midichlorians that makes accessing (not controlling) the force easier.

Oh. I am unreasonably excited for Zero Company. I know I shouldn't be given past evidence but I can't help it.

In the 13 years since Disney bought Star Wars I can count on 1 hand the number of media releases they've had that I loved (including video games). 0 of the video games make that list.

Also I think there is a significant difference between the social contract as we know it collapses and catastrophe so severe all social order collapses.

Right, but knowing how to work with electrical systems and do solar would be huge boons for rebuilding the local community. This isn't doomer prepper logic it's mostly picking a career that happens to have a skillset that still gets things done if shit gets ugly
December 12, 2025 at 1:04 AM
I agree. My concerns are more about some form of social collapse than they are about the viability of Solar.
