My grants were terminated.
I have heard of so many LGBTQ+ grants terminated today. I am so sorry to everyone affected. This is devastating to our communities and to us as researchers. I have nothing more eloquent, comforting, or helpful to say. This is all just immeasurably horrible.

This was a good thing in my week. It's pretty cool to be at the 'mother mussel' phase of my career when I get to be the Mentor and help the next generation of scientists grow #LifeAfterPhD #WomenInSTEM

Check out the external affairs page at NOAA right now. That's right. Everyone at NOAA external affairs was fired.

NOAA's #GreatLakes Environmental Research Lab will be taking an "indefinite hiatus" from communications due to staff cuts. GLERL communicates critical weekly updates about the extent of harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie - like the one that left my hometown of Toledo without drinking water in 2014

Dear friends at NOAA - I don't know exactly how to help, but Canadian scientists have your backs. You and your work are important ❤️
NOAA is an absolute mess, and it’ll be worse tomorrow. Please help us. There have already been over 1,000 terminations. It’s not just layoffs—Elon Musk and his staffers are trying to completely dismantle us. Today, there were tons of firings, and more are coming tomorrow.

"But funding can’t protect the #GreatLakes if there’s nobody to direct it."

Recent staffing cuts could cost the EPA's Great Lakes National Program Office approximately 200 employees - one-fifth of its workforce.

A Great Lakes restoration project may lose funding as Trump targets climate programs
As senator, Vice President JD Vance voted to increase funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. Advocates hope he still supports it.

One of my greatest privileges is working w/scientists from multiple agencies on both sides of the border. We work together, support each other and learn from one another. Water doesn't care about political boundaries. I stand w/the many scientists and conservationists whose jobs are being erased
