There's a compelling argument to be made that after 2012, the GOP base decided they didn't need to settle for Romney's brand of respectability anymore when they could vote for full-fat fascism. I don't see this becoming a trend. He'll just fade away in his post as de facto Duke of Utah.

What gets me is that, if you're a white guy who *doesn't* have the political views these people value, it feels like you're going crazy to read what most pundits believe you think and how you experience the world.

I now realize that this isn't clear: I was attempting to make fun of the people yelling at her about it. I agree with Moira that it isn't her job and also don't think it even makes sense as something to fixate on.

The discrimination in education is also a lie. The NC Teaching Fellows program gave men an advantage in application to try to increase the number of male teachers. It was a popular and successful program. The NC GOP killed it.

I'm a 40-year-old white man. Why does this not ring at all true to me? Am I supposed to believe that all the racist and misogynist grumbling about affirmative action I've heard my whole life was different before? Accepted as true and good? That claim is so absurd I have to consider it a lie.
