"Why are we in this theater? Let's walk out!"

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

Our department and UD are a great place to be, with excellent collaborative colleagues and with a lot of fantastic resources available to researchers including outstanding Bioimaging, Sequencing, and Mass spectroscopy core facilities.

I recommend Penrose brewing in Geneva (not far south down the Fox River). Excellent sours and other fun beers.

My Experimental Microbiology students have all successfully cultured their phage! And thanks to the U Delaware Bioimaging Core we have really nice TEM images. Next step, genome sequencing. 🧪#MoBiol
This is a transmission electron micrograph of a t-even family E. coli phage. The capsid head is visible as a dark spot in the upper lefthand corner with the tail protruding from it. The tail fibers are also just visible.

New in JB: There are many ways to regulate transcription. Jayasinghe and Babitzke review the role of RNA polymerase pausing in the control of gene expression in several microbes.

#birds More hummingbirds just because (just because they'll be migrating away soon enough and we'll miss them).
A female ruby throated hummingbird hovers under a butterfly bush flower spike while feeding on nectar from its flowers. The hummingbird's prismatic back feathers are showing both blue and green. A female ruby throated humming bird perches on the stamen of a red and white lily flower and picks ants out of the inside of the flower. Her back and wings are pointed towards the viewer.

😬 No thanks. So many nightmares (Both physical and administrative).

Exactly. It should be a sealed source. It should take monumental mistreatment of the irradiator to make the thing leak.

I prefer the simpler Eppendorf M4 repeaters as they aren’t electronic (they have a battery but it’s only for the screen). Plus you can get calibrated used ones for $350ish. I still have a OG West German 4780 model too but finding tips that still fit is challenging. Never needed calibration though.

Important to note: 1. The job search that he applied to ultimately hired a different white man and 2. He is mad because a separate department from the one he applied to was directly recruiting a senior faculty member from another university who happened to be a black woman. Absolute nonsense.

This guy *admits* he applied for "countless" tenure-track positions and ultimately had to leave academia because nobody would hire him. He claims, though, that Ivy League Cornell filled their position with a Black person who couldn't possibly be more qualified than him.
