Thinking a lot about Barbara Brown Taylor's words (from "Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others"):

“The only clear line I draw these days is this: when my religion tries to come between me and my neighbour, I will choose my neighbour...Jesus never commanded me to love my religion.”

Through my research with church-leaving Christians I've been lucky enough to get involved with Proost: a creative, justice-seeking collective of artists reimagining faith, culture, and connection. Loved our time together in Glasgow last weekend, creating and contemplating together: proost.community
A table covered in art supplies like paint, paper, pens, clay, and magazines. In the centre sits a clay dish, with a candle inside a wooden holder. Instead of offering a vision of dignity and justice, or even one of the mildest compassion, immigration has been turned into a pariah issue at the behest of politicians who have a vested interest in offering the public a distraction, writes Kelly Given ✍️

This is genocide, of that there can be no doubt. Our governments must end their complicity in this murderous slaughter.

🚫 Stop funding Israel
❌ Stop arming Israel

A poster advertising the webinar. Text reads: "Why are women's symptoms so often dismissed, misdiagnosed, or disbelieved? This webinar explores the intersection of chronic illness, gender bias, and the credibility gap in healthcare. Drawing on research from her upcoming book, Dr Eilidh Galbraith examines how structural inequalities and medical misogyny shape diagnostic practices, clinical listening, and the ethics of care. Through shared lived experience with panelists Charli Clement, author of "All tangled up in autism and chronic illness," Natalie Busari, founder of "the Nerve of my MS" and Tanya Marlow, speaker and author of "Those who Wait" (2017), this session invites participants to reflect on what it means to be heard and to be believed in a system that too often fails those in pain."

This is the first article in our series telling positive stories of refugees in Scotland.

Meet Motaz Amer. His family fled war in Yemen when he was 9. 10 years later he is advising the Scottish Government, supporting its refugee integration strategy.

This inspiring 19-year-old refugee is already advising the Scottish Government
CALLING Motaz Amer a high achiever would be quite the understatement ...

Day in, day out, I speak to ordinary people who are organising to welcome the asylum seekers accommodated in their towns.

They befriend, support them, reach out to them as fellow human beings.

That's the Britain I know, the one I see around me & we never get told about on TV.
