Could be! I have a weight lifting class every week and I use exclusively 2.5 or 5 pound weights. Trust me, it’s enough. It doesn’t feel like it, but it will be!

So if you have two 2.5lb barbells, that will be more effective than struggling to lift 50lbs and potentially hurting yourself. I’d start with these, but without weights! You can do them easily at home www.bhf.org.uk/informations...

So to start: just start small! If you don’t have barbells pick something of a similar weight like a hardback book and do repetitions with it! Do small sets of each. Gaining muscle does not depend on HOW much weight you lift but is concussive, meaning repetitions are better

The back pain is probably being exacerbated by the acid reflux but check on the muscles in your back, your body may be straining if they’re too weak!
