"This feels like the early days of the pandemic, except there's less I can do about it", a colleague told me yesterday. Yep.
One thing you *can* do is outreach. My sense is that the majority of the country doesn't yet understand the scale or the stakes of what is happening.

@hcrichardson.bsky.social FYI the VA PMS system is locked/down? I myself am a service provider to veterans, & I cannot request reimbursement for services from Oct-Dec 2024. It's not just me: No one can get in. Is this Musk/DOGE? PLEASE INVESTIGATE

NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.
Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
