absolutely incredible -- CNN host introduces a segment about Trump's "new healthcare proposal," but less than two minutes later breaks into her script to announce "breaking news" that Trump's healthcare proposal is being postponed

DOGE was always a very thinly disguised con to dress up data theft and extraction class destruction of federal corporate oversight as innovative, and it's important to remember that part of the reason it worked so well is that the press helped legitimize it
hey don't be so hard on yourselves; it delivered oceans of sensitive government and citizen data to billionaires
Musk’s DOGE Quietly Killed Off After Delivering Almost Nothing
The agency disbanded eight months ahead of schedule.

Marjorie Taylor Greene came into Congress in 2021 worth about $700,000. She leaves five years later worth around $25,000,000. 😳 Congress is just a giant insider-trading scheme.

Gatekeeping by demanding expensive technology or approaches is the ancient tactic of the rich laboratory.
My favorite from an @hhmi.org scientist: “the great thing about optogenetics is it keeps the riff raff out of the field.”
Heard an established successful neuroscientist dismissing junior scientists as "people at the bottom" 🤦‍♀️

You folks with lots of research funds & power: young scientists more than ever need our respect and support even if you don't agree with their ideas and approaches

see if you can spot when Citizens United happened
We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Man. trump is really bad at this economy stuff.
TEN MONTHS IN:

The national debt is higher.

The trade deficit is wider.

The inflation rate has worsened.

The unemployment rate is up.

Oh come on man. You are not stupid enough to believe what you are saying. I mean, Kilmeade definitely is, but Cassidy knows damn well that this is bullshit.
Cassidy: "If she goes and gets 2 types of shampoo & one is a dollar cheaper, she'll get the cheaper one & the other lowers their price. Once you give her the power of making the decision, she's gonna shop -- that begins to save her money and squeezes waste out of the healthcare system."

This is very good. "...Summers still has jobs because Larry Summers is exceedingly common. He’s not an outlier—he’s the freaking norm. He’s a guy in every C-Suite, on every hiring committee, in every mailroom. He is a man who has power and believes that he is entitled to convert that power into sex"
I know that at this point it's a subplot in the Epstein files drama, but I feel compelled to point out, once again, that Larry Summers HAS NO BUSINESS teaching students at ANY university ever again!

My latest cries into the abyss, in @thenation.com

Why Is Larry Summers Still Employed?
The revelations about the economist’s attempts to pressure a women into a “relationship”—with guidance from Jeffrey Epstein—should finally disqualify him from teaching students.

This statement is as dumb as a bag of hammers. As a kid, beaches on Lake Erie were routinely closed because there was either medical waste washing up on shore or because the fecal bacterial counts were too high. Environmentalism is why that isn’t a regular occurrence anymore
If there’s no shale gas then there’s no shale gas, but I still think environmentalism is basically bad and politicians should focus more on material prosperity.
