Hearing news that Carl Dieffenbach, the Director of the Division of AIDS at #NIH (NIAID), has been removed from his position because he was "not aligned with HHS/OMB."

Russell Vought continues to remove great scientists as part of the Project 2025 mission to politicize and destroy NIH.

28.5% of the jobs in Lexington, gone.
Tyson Foods announces that they’ll be closing a major beef-processing plant in Lexington, Nebraska with 3,200 employees.

Lexington has a population of 11,205.

Nebraska overwhelmingly voted for the orange felon over VP Kamala Harris.

I hope they’re enjoying their vote.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Holy shit. So Elon decides it would be nice to know what region of the world people are posting from. So they add that little feature.
2 hours later they figure out that many Trump supporters with millions of followers are posting from other countries. Surprise!
That "feature" is now gone.

My favorite from an @hhmi.org scientist: “the great thing about optogenetics is it keeps the riff raff out of the field.”
Heard an established successful neuroscientist dismissing junior scientists as "people at the bottom" 🤦‍♀️

You folks with lots of research funds & power: young scientists more than ever need our respect and support even if you don't agree with their ideas and approaches

Now honestly, this thing reads like a spoof or some top-quality trolling akin to my Boomer bashing. Albeit without a shred of actual data on which it is based (unlike my Boomer bashing). However, y…

Elon successfully murdered millions of Africans, stole data, and helped break democratic institutions that are our only hope of holding people like him accountable.

But we need trust unless a full time cop is going to stand behind every scientist. Images were the only thing that WAS hard to fake, that's why we kept catching image fakers. Other kinds of data are easier.

Well, well, well. How timely. We were just discussing the situation in which some ICs of the NIH fund some subset of their grant applications out of the order of initial peer review. And what shoul…

So far there is no evidence that this did not occur.
The claim "RFK Jr was not bitten by a zombie" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that RFK Jr was indeed bitten by a zombie.

We are also seeing how people respond to the world burning down: looking out for themselves or finding solidarity to maintain something that can work for a broader array of people. How science and scientists respond to disruption has always been a microcosm of our larger society’s response
