All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.
Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”

Even some of the president’s closest advisers have been surprised by a number of the recent series of pardons.

Finished this cable knit throw for mom. The pattern had me stitch this is sections and then sew them together. Next time, I think I will adjust the pattern so I knit straight across on circulars and avoid sewing. #KnitSky

Practicing brioche stitch and just finished this little infinity scarf. Just in time to make it a Christmas gift for my niece!

Finished this gorgeous scarf my friend Tricia had been knitting before she died. Packaging it up for her SIL, who was the intended recipient. #KnitSky

Practicing my brioche because there is a brioche sweater I really want to make with good yarn. 🧶 #KnitSky

My friend knit this before she died but hadn’t gotten around to weaving in the ends. I finished it and wore it today. I got a ton of compliments on it, and it made me smile, thinking of her each time I received one. #KnitSky

I crocheted these squares probably 10 years ago and finally got around to stitching them together. I actually wish the blanket was a little longer, but it still came together nicely. #CrochetSky

Finishing another one of Tricia’s projects ( I only needed to weave in the ends and block). Beautiful lacy short scarf which I think I will give to her MIL. #KnitSky

My best friend who introduced me to knitting died Aug ‘24. I have been helping her husband go through her things and being only 1 of 2 friends who are knitters, I’ve received a lot of her WIPS. I finished off this scarf for her (it was practically done). I think I will give this to her sis. #knitsky

I stumbled on this infinity scarf that I knit up some time back but hadn’t gotten a round to stitching together. I finally did that tonight! I am trying to go into 2026 with no WIPs #KnitSky

Not my best or most creative work, but baby blanket is being blocked. I’m thinking of adding these little pink flowers to the green section for interest. Or does it just make it busy? #KnitSky

Currently on the needles…baby blanket for a family member. Simple striped blanket, but super soft. #knitsky

Memories reminded me that 10 years I served as foreperson on a jury that found a man guilty of child sex abuse. Today, I realize I have done more to stop child sex abuse than some lawmakers. So there is that.

In normal times, it would be a major scandal for the President to direct his AG to criminally investigate his political opponents to deflect from his own involvement in a major scandal — and for the AG to immediately announce she is doing it. The Epstein scandal and cover up just got even bigger.

I really cannot imagine going to all the trouble of getting elected to the Senate only to get there and decide not to stand up for healthcare, or democracy, or people’s ability to afford their lives. If those things aren’t worth fighting for, then truly what is?

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Gavin Newsom just said the quiet part out loud:

“All this anti-woke stuff is just anti-Black. Period. Full stop.”

And he’s right. “Anti-woke” was never about ideas, it was a marketing campaign to sanitize racism, roll back progress, and make bigotry sound intellectual.

The old rulebook is gone. It's not coming back and we all need to accept that. The DOJ is weaponized. the GOP is rigging elections. Trump is literally bulldozing the White House.

Democrats need to operate under this new reality, fight hard, and play by the same rules.
