“We don’t have to approach and criticize this album as art, because it isn’t art. The Life of a Showgirl is made of Shein quality rip-offs of other people’s songs that are constructed shoddily and sold in ginormous quantities. Art takes time and care. This is profit. It’s content.”

No Good Art Comes From Greed | Defector
The packages arrived square and thin and carefully wrapped on Saturday afternoon. There were three of them, but only one was mine. If I could have rejected my package, sent it back from whence it came...

Students using AI is definitely the thing that is going to break me. Not even failing grades work as a deterrent.

I honestly cannot stand her music. I don't get it at all and her lyrics are cringe as hell

I never usually comment about Taylor but I have to say, Charli's song was about complex professional jealousy and ambivalence (and not personal at all), and to respond to that with "you must be gay for me and also you do cocaine" would be cringe for a 12-year-old.

This Charli XCX diss track is just the worst, her worst since Reputation

Can we just admire Jane Fonda, please? She is a true patriot, inspiration, and role model.

"When I feel scared, I look to history. I wish there were a secret playbook with all the answers — but there never has been. The only thing that has ever worked — time and time again — is solidarity."
Text from the Variety article on the sub quoted piece:

In a letter inviting her peers to join the re-established group, Fonda writes: "I'm 87 years old. I've seen war, repression, protest, and backlash. I've been celebrated, and I've been branded an enemy of the state. But I can tell you this: this is the most frightening moment of my life. When I feel scared, I look to history. I wish there were a secret playbook with all the answers — but there never has been. The only thing that has ever worked — time and time again — is solidarity: binding together, finding bravery in numbers too big to ignore, and standing up for one another."

The proliferation of online disinformation targeted at women, which falsely claims that the most effective forms of woman-controlled contraception are dangerous, is an underrated part of the right’s weaponization of epistemic collapse.

43. In support of their application, the renters have cited a number of

supposed authorities. In reality none of the cases referenced

actually exist. When questioned about these, the renters advised

the authorities were copied from the Al summary that resulted

Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

It certainly appears the United States murdered an innocent fisherman who was a husband and father to four children, claimed he was a "narco-terrorist," posted a video of the execution, and then made jokes about it

Even the external barrister hired to do the internal review of a NSW GIPA (FoI) decision was told it didn't exist. But it did. It had been emailed to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Prof. Kathryn McGrath, as requested. She said she discussed it with the VC. The VC signed the contract!
