Shocking and depressing. Presumably the items are properly recorded, scanned etc? So at least it's not "as bad as" when the only records we have are things like an 18th century diary entry, or a pencil drawing?

Selfies are the opposite of Rembrandt. He was actually looking at himself, carefully, for himself.

Selfies are attention pictographs, aimed at others, that say "Hi, it's me, remember me? Read this text above or below this picture and reply - after all, I added a picture!"
