She's had plenty of warnings, the judge should refer her for disciplinary proceedings now, and also hold her in contempt.

The fact that these people think they should not have to ask first tells me a lot about them. I shouldn't have to wonder about the power dynamics when I open the door just to find out if someone is a door-to-door salesman or is a new neighbor. A heavily armed salesman?

Today's case could mean that we have to accost every contractor and deliveryman individually to inform them we do not want them to come armed into our home. I think they should have to ask first if we mind if they enter even though they are carrying a firearm.

If a have a big dog that barks when the doorbell rings, and the pesky armed salesman or pizza delivery guy is terrified of dogs, what happens now? Do they get to brandish their gun because a goldendoodle is barking really loud right inside the door, and they feel scared?

Places the burden on the unarmed homeowner to demand that an armed man (or group of armed men) at their front door leave the property and come back unarmed.

Seems like the gun guys just feel entitled to dominate every interpersonal encounter they have, even at *someone else's* front door.

#2A #GVP If you're the type of person who thinks you should have the right to carry guns onto my private property without my permission, you are someone I consider untrustworthy and whose intentions and attitude seem seem wrong to me.

It's like Nixon trying to replicate JFK's "walk on the beach" tv and. So cool when JFK did it, so cringe when Nixon tried a copycat ad.

Courts have authority to disqualify an attorney from a case, over the client's objection. Conflicts of interest rules are usually enforced through disqualification motions rather than state bar disciplinary actions.

The real value is spite. The economic losses are the Spite Premium we pay for the little thrill leaders get from inflicting setbacks on a foe or rival, even if it costs us as much as it costs them

I have come to realize that somehow both statements meant the same thing to them all along.

It's even worse in print somehow

In theology classes, we used to call that "antinomianism." The only rule is to assert that you are above the law in all cases.

Did Hannah Arendt have a chapter about this phenomenon?

When I started teaching the old-timers cautioned me not to read them for that very reason. I said if there were serious pervasive problems, someone from the administration was going to talk to me anyway
