Hello, I’m Dr Wally.
I believe humanity is one of the universe’s most fascinating experiments — and it’s up to us whether it continues.
I post reminders that we’re all in this together. #HumanTogether
Super relieved the grants are back.
Super unexcited that cruelty was treated as a reversible policy choice.
People’s care shouldn’t depend on whether outrage reaches critical mass.

Doesn't get much crueler than this. This is a reminder that progress is never automatic. It’s maintained by people paying attention. Read, share, ask questions, and support the organizations and professionals doing lifesaving work every day.

I don’t know anything about this man or this case, but I have had leadership training alongside university c-suite types and I think these must be the suckiest jobs possible. Was on that track once, but saw the light and said, “No Thanks!”
Nebraska Chancellor’s Hasty Exit Raises Questions

Nice, provocative piece. Universities matter not because they’re profitable, but because they’re protective of truth, inquiry, and our capacity to disagree without fear. That’s democracy work.

Universities Need a New Defense
The authoritarian threat is growing. The old playbook won’t work.

I forget. Is it the gestapo or storm troopers that we have now in this country?

If Ashli Babbitt was a victim but Renee Nicole Good “deserved it,” then your views on state violence aren’t moral, they’re partisan.

Same act. Same power. Different politics.

From a chilly Vermont morning with a warm mug in my hands, here’s your reminder that our #LGBTQIA family belongs everywhere. Always.

Censoring Plato in a philosophy class is like banning gravity in physics.

This is what higher ed looks like when the goal is idealogical comfort instead of critical thinking.

Texas A&M Bans Plato Excerpt From a Philosophy Course
Martin Peterson wasn’t surprised when he had to excise two units on race and gender ideology from a philosophy course. What did shock him was that the ban included readings from Plato’s “Symposium.”

For all their talk of reclaiming masculinity, it sure seems like they’re lacking any of it.

For me, Dry January isn’t about abstinence as virtue.
It’s about awareness.
Any practice that helps you better understand your relationship with something that shapes your mood, sleep, health, or connection is probably worth trying. This is my third year “checking-in” with myself.

Packing up Northwest Ohio and pointing the car toward Central Kentucky. New Year’s energy, Dry January intentions, and that familiar feeling of crossing into a different cultural (and actual) weather system.

I’ve never been very drawn to New Year’s resolutions.
What matters more to me is leaning into the values I’ve been cultivating for years: care, curiosity, responsibility, showing up with integrity even when it’s inconvenient.

Growth isn’t necessarily a reset. It’s a continuation.

Not usually one to ask—but if reasoned conversation and staying human matter to you, a follow would help push me past 400.
Grateful for this community.

Today is HumanLight Day. Happy that!
A reminder that reason, compassion, and shared humanity still matter—especially when things feel dark.
Sometimes the light is just people choosing to stay human.
