🧵 I hear we’re swearing off shopping on Black Friday. I want to propose people shop Black owned businesses. Keep the money circulating in our community, micro reparations for non-Black ppl.

I’m adding Black owned businesses I frequent, please feel free to add your own. LFG.

I’m most concerned with our surviving and thriving. And if that gets people bent out of shape, that’s a them problem. Seems ever single group in this country can have a preference for their own except us. Wonder why that is. 🤔

One of my good friends says, that when a Black trans woman can walk down the street, free from harassment and violence, we’ll know we’ve reached equity. The only thing I’d add to that is to make this fictional person Black, trans, disabled, and low income - I might add immigrant. But I digress.

Black issues are human rights issues. Black issues are NOT niche issues. We’ve fought for the rights and liberties of every single group. Every one.

While I’m concerned for everybody, my energy, talents, and focus are centered on Black people and our full liberation, across every intersectionality

A few months ago I said I didn’t care who was mayor of nyc. I lost followers who demanded I care

I checked to see if they’d tweeted about California’s prop 50 and how my state is trying to counter Texas gerrymandering & disenfranchisement of Black voters.

Omg! The egret came back to our little pond! I’m so excited. And the heron was there too. He stalked the egret for a quick minute, then they both went to their sides of the pond. Gorgeous birds.

What always gets me, is every family reunion or when telling family stories, there’s always at least one cousin who had some childhood disease that one summer, who now has a cognitive or physical disability or died. A disease that we now have safe vaccines to prevent. But even that is too much.

I keep hearing a bunch of whiny white farmers who can’t sell their soybeans to China. Some are feeling it. But not enough of them have been hit with the full weight of it yet.

I mean, the literacy rates in this country have been declining, the average reading age is 6th grade, people can’t name the 3 branches of government, don’t know how elections work. It might be asking too much for them to learn history. Idk. We might be asking too much from people who just can’t.
drxyan.bsky.social
Yup. Might change how they see their memaw and pawpaw and thereby, their own inheritances and mediocrity. Can’t have that.

👏🏽✊🏽 spitting straight facts! Didn’t want to ally with us at any point in the history of freedom movements in this country and now, bc the country is on fire and white people are feeling the fascism, they want us to come fix it for them. We stay living in fascist Amerikkka. Whatchya done about that?

I see what you did there and approve this message. 😂

From the very beginning.

This country (the U.S.) was built on exactly this - debating people’s humanity and whatever rights stem from that. It isn’t a healthy discourse but it is the discourse that’s been here since the first colonizers came. The system is working as designed. It’s disgusting that in 2025 it’s still central
drxyan.bsky.social
The responsibility for maintenance of these structures should not be the responsibility of the countries where they are. Also, I don’t see the U.S. doing shit (our country will vote no or abstain), particularly at this moment.

This seems/feels hopeful, like a good convo starter. If you’ve been to Ghana, Senegal, or other nations that still have the slave castles, I would also argue that the nations that built and used them should have to maintain them as world heritage sites in perpetuity.
drxyan.bsky.social
Same. Total indifference for them.

I’ve been there. I’m sorry you’re going through this. All I can say is 1) you got this, 2) you will come out the other side of it, and 3) be gentle with yourself. Solidarity and hugs.

My people know the National Guard is rarely our friend. We know that every single prez (yes, even Obama) has been anti-Black in one way or another. We know that this country has only been a democracy for about 60 years. And we warned all y’all what would happen if the rotting pile of human

And I say this not knowing what’s coming but looking to history to give me an idea. Of course, this war against my people never ended. I think it’s more important now, more than ever, to have a firm understanding of this country’s history.
