I wish I could explain to young folks why this is so fucking sad. They’ve never had the experience of the fourth estate, never really had a zeitgeist to connect to their fellow Americans with. Micro-zeitgeists and the incredibly rapid cycle of TikTok drama (while entertaining) are not the same.
