though i of course would still worry about being smothering. if unchecked i absolutely would be smothering. I'm possessive and attached, that's not a secret. but learning to let loose and accept that i don't always have to be there is important for a healthy attachment.

another goal is to become even more comfortable in speaking about my love. i get easily frightened when I want to be authentic and it makes me come across very awkwardly and possibly inauthenticly, or just not powerfully enough. i can easily write my thoughts, but I want to say them.

my goal for myself this year: really try to voice my desires to spend time with people. Ive been so passive for so long because of such a fear of rejection or not understanding the terms of my relationships properly; i have to speak up. i have to let those around me know i want to be around them.

I really hate "if you want" because i use it to mask my desires without thinking. im so scared of seeming manipulative that i actively kill my friendships and love with this. the truth is I want you there so badly, i would absolutely love to do this with you - but, i dont want you to feel obligated

"You can come if you want." sounds to them like the person doesn't actually want them to come.
Affirming that you want them there helps remove any doubts.
