A nice "tradition" that's sprung up in #Southampton in recent years is hanging Christmas decorations in trees in the old cemetery in the city's Common. Living close to this, we've started joining in and here's some snaps of our yews plus a few other decorated trees.

Yeah ... a "chocolate love lobster". Right.

More navel-gazing, self-indulgent, faux-philosophical, clickbaity horseshit. This time from @newscientist.com who should know better.
December 9, 2025 at 4:39 PM
Has even #PopularMechanics completely lost its way in these clickbaity times?

Alternatively: "100% of #gamers believe #Steam has a monopoly on PC games that spares them from having to install multiple bullshit apps like #Uplay / #EAApp"

Sure, @steampowered.com's monopoly is bad, but so is having to tolerate a whole load of crap alternative platforms.

Hey @royalsociety.org - hate to break it to you, but just because you were formed in the wake of Britain's last civil war, doesn't mean you'll weather one fomented by your most racist, most scumbaggy Fellow. You're embarrassing UK science by acquiescing to a fellow who doesn't even respect you.

I'm not entirely sure how to take this ...

While visiting @samsocean.bsky.social near #Oban, Team #SMARTEX takes a moment to look at a much shallower marine ecosystem … 🌊

No it's not.

(WTF happened to #NationalGeographic?)

Would love to be a fly on the wall when the #TimesOfIndia discover what coal-fired power stations (~45% of electricity production) and the resulting climate change will do to female 🦀 crabs, 🌊 marine ecosystems, 🌳 terrestrial ecosystems, 🚜 farming productivity, 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 human populations, coastlines, ...

@bas.ac.uk people - Is this true? If so, good for you.

I'm not sure what equivalent film would best work for computer-based Earth system modelling scientists (specifically marine 🌊 BGC), but I'm open to suggestions.

I really wish they'd stop calling it "scepticism" when it's clearly just "fuckwittery" ...
September 26, 2025 at 10:14 AM
Only "in doubt"?!? Why the uncertainty @royalsociety.org? Is there something that's offsetting your Fellow's avowed racism, anti-science agenda, and recent call to violence?

As someone who grew up in a "Famous Golf Town" on Scotland's east coast, I was particularly tickled by this graphic from a fantastic "myth-busting" piece on #SolarEnergy by

In a bit of a coincidence, it's 8 years to the day since I was using #Lisbon's funicular trams. The same day I also snapped the second image of some graffiti we spotted in the city. Some of the commentary today has put the blame (at least in part) on the burden #MassTourism puts on #MassTransit.
