Benton & Washington County inmates are being transferred to ICE custody due to 287(g) program regardless of conviction
NWA Awareness Benton & Washington County inmates are being transferred to ICE custody due to 287(g) program regardless of conviction Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a law requiring Sheriffs to cooperate with ICE & 287(g) Benton County Sheriffs work even closer with ICE and have access to federal immigration databases Many ICE transfers are often detained for traffic violations with no criminal background and often have their charges dropped before proceedings NWA Awareness Benton & Washington County inmates are being transferred to ICE custody due to 287(g) program regardless of conviction While Springdale Police claims no affiliation with Benton County’s ICE program, those they arrest are questioned about immigration Those transferred to ICE custody locally have charges dropped before conviction or sentencing Benton County accosts for 4% of 7,000 arrests made nationwide attributed to similar programs (Jan-Oct 2025) NWA Awareness The 287(g) Program Allows for deputies to question and report inmates to ICE, hold people in custody for longer, & serve warrants on behalf of ICE More than 1,180 State & Local law enforcers have agreements with ICE. So what's happening now The Venezuelan people look to their government for protection as they prepare to defend their country from those with capitalist, imperialist interest in the natural resources they have successfully nationalized! The oppressive regime of the U.S. threatens the lives of Venezuelans and actively murders Venezuelan citizens in international waters! The workers of Venezuela have come together to protect themselves and their neighbors from U.S. aggression! Escalations by the U.S. government have been illegal and are dangerous to both the Venezuelans involved and the military members being used as pawns in the game of imperialist agenda! Next We ask of you! We ask of you sailors, of you active military, to follow the moral route and insist to your commanders of the illegality and danger of missions that request attack of a sovereign nation! The US support of Maria Machado over the past two decades has hindered the country's democratic progress! Machado has used U.S./foreign influence and money to undermine every citizen of Venezuela. NWA DSA Labor Working Group Meeting DECEMBER 16, 7:00-8:00 pm Starbucks, Wedington Dr., Fayetteville Discussing chapters 4-5 of "Class Struggle Unionism by Joe Burns Updates on EWOC (Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee) We are meeting at the Starbucks on Wedington as a show of solidarity with the currently striking Starbucks workers. This location is unionized, but is not participating in the strike. If the strike is still ongoing at other locations, we will not be purchasing anything. However, supporting fellow workers with tips (if you're able to!) is encouraged.

The 2025 NWA DSA Caucus was a success! Some highlights: - food - Pearl's stopped by with some great reading material Discussion of future growth and direction for the chapter Several officer candidates spoke on their plans, and how they will approach their positions, if elected DJ Deutch spoke on how his campaign is an opportunity for the chapter to show Fayetteville (and NWA general) that DSA is a real player in local politics (Two members of Arkansas Renters United are posed for the camera whilst tabling)
