Cause they weren’t running it through England!

It is a funny tax. Regressive, as it doesn’t depend on property value, given equal frontages.

But on my 33’ town lot compared to super-wide suburb lots, it ends up as a sort of low-density tax.

From the outside, it seems a funny way to frame it. I could calculate the mill rate on the one library down the street, but I wouldn’t!
December 16, 2025 at 3:55 AM
I guess it’s just that the separate mill rate is a funny way to present it.

We could restate Wpg’s police or parks or whatever that way. Just not sure why one would do that. Makes it seem arbitrarily separate from the city budget.

So, the Regina police service had its own mill rate, but the police board has to send the request to city council?

Like a restricted fund only at the revenue end of things.

@stateofthecity.bsky.social is that an unusual arrangement?

Dorval -> gate centrale -> back out to along the old port (that’d be a trip and SLOW) -> CP trench to St Jerome line. With a new connector to turn right near parc and van Horne, making the full triangle.

Crazy, but fun!

I used to live near the CP trench and dreamed of an RER on it.

Our P3 / P1 equiv for active transportation sidewalk was cleared quite early. And then the P3 road clearing filled in 1/3rd is the sidewalk, just like always.

No boulevard in a city with astoundingly few residential streets without them.

And then it freezes into an impenetrable wall of ice.
