Allotment’s come a long way. Soil’s had a full organic rethink - lush, fertile, thriving. Evening sunset put on a show: orange and blue under a ceiling of cloud. Hard to believe it’s getting darker already and summer’s drawing in. #timetogohome

I recently made this gooseberry & blackcurrant frangipane with fruit from the allotment - red and green gooseberries, sharp and sweet. Served with cream and not a crumb left. #kitchengarden

Just picked our red onions and they’re now curing out on the soil. Plump, deep in colour, and fully organic. It’s been a slow grow this year, but the bulbs have come through well. Looking forward to seeing how they store. #KitchenGarden

Good morning. A basket of ripe plums gathered from the allotment. I’m thinking a slow simmer with sugar until it deepens and thickens. Jam jars at the ready. #kitchengarden 🍑

Starting on the berry patch today: raspberries and blueberries. Just tested the soil pH - the blueberry bed is sitting at 7.0, far too neutral. Next up soil conditioning, then working to bring the acidity down to where it needs to be.
