Started reading this German book about the biology of #trees. It's a text book for biology students, so a little bit hard to read for me (noob), but it's really interesting. #bonsai

I have sycamore moth caterpillars on a sacrifical branch of my #maple #bonsai. I guess I should remove them, but I don't want to, since they are really pretty...

Trying a new, slightly simplified recording setup for an experimental format based on my talk about #bonsai and #SoftwareDevelopment.
Not sure if you'll ever see one of the videos - as I've said, it's experimental, and I'm not sure if I can pull it off in a way that I like.

We visited the national Austrian #bonsai expo last week - A beautiful event!

I made this animation about sacrificial branches for my talk about #bonsai and #software #development next week.

What do you think? Does it make the process and advantages clear?

I had a great time #teaching this #DDD training this week: Awesome group of people, interesting discussions and insights!
Different training materials and other stuff: A notebook with a schedule and information, a fluffy ball, sticky notes, pens, tape, coffee mugs, glasses A flip chart page about problem space and solution space, and about understanding, modelling and implementing. A white board with an example domain story we created using domain storytelling. A whiteboard with a comparison of universal architecture, ports&adapters and onion architecture.

I'll soon give a talk about "Growing #Bonsai and #Software Development". Currently trying ways to illustrate my point.
Here's an illustration of how a juniper tree might develop in the coming years (but it will probably turn out differently). What do you think?

A chinese elm pre - #bonsai I bought at a garden center. I currently want to thicken the lower trunk and lower branches much more, so I'm letting it grow, then cut back a lot, and so on.
Here before and after this year's spring pruning.
The elm bonsai with long branches, as it grew last year. It's planted in a pond basket and standing on a grey wooden table in front of a white wall. The same elm bonsai from the first picture, but pruned aggressively. Hardly any branches remaining.

Moved the #bonsai benches up into the garden. Now they are still nicely arranged, are out of the way from our main walking path and get a little bit more sunlight throughout the day.

Winter is ending here, so it's time to work more on my #bonsai again. Here's a needle juniper that I only trimmed and wired a little bit in Autumn, and I want to let grow this year. Will remove more sacrifice branches later.

Tables are working for the new @MarmotaApp markdown parser.
Here's the last commit that completes it: github.com/marmota-app/...

(The skipped tests are auto-generated compatibility tests that cannot work yet)

Here's a bigger, cumulative commit of marmodo, the new marmota app markdown parser, which makes it compatible with the legacy parser when it comes to headings.

Screenshot of the commit message, which says: Parsing Headings and Sections The HeadingParser can parse headings, and the section parser now knows when a heading is part of the current section, when it should start a new inner section and when it should end the current section. When the section parser ends the current section, the calling parser (another section parser or the ContainerParser) will start the next section.

Moved the #bonsai, projects (hopefully future bonsai) and other plants closer to the house, under a roof. There, they will be more protected from wind and cold. When it gets below -3 ... -5°C, I will move the chinese elm to a warmer place. All other trees should survive at least -10°C here...

Back from a short trip to Wurzeralm, here in Austria. I took some pictures of #trees in the mountains, as an inspiration for #bonsai

Nice fall colour on my old #maple #bonsai
And after half a year of new growth, it now becomes clearer which parts of the original trunk and roots have died (most of it).
Thinking about carving the deadwood and then hardening it with epoxy in spring...
