this is why people very far into the upper middle class should support building out a proper welfare state like @reprashida.govpeeps.us proposed the other day. you'd pay just a little for a tremendous amount of material security www.peoplespolicyproject.org/2025/11/20/r...
Rep. Tlaib’s Economic Dignity for All Agenda Would Bring Economic Security for Millions
The agenda would lower poverty by 42% and child poverty by two-thirds.

The combined impact of the EDAA would lower poverty and child poverty by 42% and 67%, respectively. Each household decile would gain, except the highest which would pay a higher average tax amount than what they receive in benefits from the 3 bills.

The End Child Poverty Act consolidates the federal CTC and EITC into a universal child allowance, providing $5,630 for every child under 19 in 2026.

The BOOST Act provides $3,000 for everyone 19 to 67, and establishes a 2.5% tax on AGI above $30,000 and $60,000 for joint filers.

I thank Rep. Rashida Tlaib for introducing this bill as part of the Economic Dignity for All Agenda.

The EDAA also includes updated versions of the End Child Poverty Act and the BOOST Act, which I got to help draft.

This crucial piece of legislation would help bring economic security to new parents, whose earnings drop significantly during the months before and after childbirth.

Parents should be able to enjoy this special time in their lives without fear of financial hardship.

Two years ago I wrote about the need for a universal baby bonus, administered by the SSA, and able to be claimed two months before the child’s expected due date.

The Baby Bonus Act does just that.

Kinda crazy the turn around. Between flipping on congestion pricing, passing a decent budget, and standing up to Trump in general, not a ton to really complain about since the start of the year.
