Yes, we're super excited about the Bike Bunkers that we hear are on the way from manufacture in the Netherlands (see posts today on Meta platforms) but cycle hoops are badly needed for quick stops around town- At the shops, at the cafe, for work meetings. It's funny to see poor placement like this.

We guess, in fairness, because they're at the rear boundary of the Childrens Hospital, they may be looking to serve staff + visitors.

But they're WAY too far from the main entrance - and they look quite unused. Parking needs to be carefully located!

The current Government is showing worrying signs of shoving its head in the sand when it comes to our climate obligations.

Its transport allocations under the National Development Plan are shameful, boosting unhealthy, polluting private car use and de-funding active travel.

Just really sad to see this published when the Minister himself has shown real understanding of the benefits of active travel, when switching from car driving to active travel has been a claimed national goal for years, and when nearly half our car trips are less than 3km!

As yer man says, SAD!!!

All in a context where storms, floods, food production problems and forced migration are hitting us more and more every month.

We’re now at 420ppm CO2 in the atmosphere compared to the 350ppm widely considered safe.

And Ireland’s transport sector is the slowest to reduce carbon emissions.
