FF5 specifically has an entire library combat area that you can't read books in (you fight books instead), but also smaller library areas in major towns that you sometimes *can* read books in... it's weird lol

Sonic CD for the hand drawn animated opening and ending cutscenes, the best soundtrack in the series and infinite replayability with the time travel mechanic. Easy to hop in and mess around in a level whenever I want since it has a mobile port too

given one costs me a switch 2 and game price and the other is already on most platforms, the choice seems pretty obvious to me

it's a good setup for the experience, since they're not directly related but they share some concepts and especially gameplay mechanics. Have fun either way

interesting, since I found act 1 to be the shorter one. I think you still have a lot of cool stuff to discover (or if you dont have the time like you say, a lot of it is optional and you can go straight for the ending, though the full experience is VERY worth it imo)
