it's frustrating that i got it set up so nicely that players should never need to manually update their modpack once it's installed, but Mojang can't even keep their auth servers up for 10 minutes at a time, for 8 days straight. and Mojang won't even acknowledge it.

their auth has been down for most of the last week. it's absolutely absurd.
my main concern with tailscale is the same as running a custom auth server: i need to be confident i'll be able to help not-technically-minded players get it working remotely.

Some variant of this has been going on since at least 2023. It'd be lovely if Microsoft stopped actively providing infrastructure to scammers, and PayPal locked down their domain so scammers couldn't send emails claiming to be from "service@paypal<dot>com"

It's super easy to spot this crap, btw.
Your email client will show:
- "From" address of "service@paypal<dot>com"
- "To" address is not you, because you were BCCed.
- looks like a PayPal email, but the footer has a contact email address that's obviously a random person's personal email.
Your email client will show:

(I got the two lego sets off ebay, still sealed, for ~$50 each. There's tons of other listings for still-sealed boxes of those two sets, all around the same price.)
