Humility and truth were the first casualties of Donald Trump’s Davos display. Our best allies are fed up with his threats and boasts. Our nation will pay a heavy price for one man’s ego.

Last week while meeting with María Corina Machado, I presented her with the bipartisan Senate resolution I helped pass honoring her work fighting for democracy in Venezuela. Her courage is an inspiration to all who believe in liberty.

This is absolutely horrific. Immigration detention is at a crisis point under this Admin.

I will be demanding information from DHS on Mr. Campos’ death as well as a lack of detention oversight.

The Admin’s current detention scheme is dangerous and will result in more deaths.

A bipartisan group of colleagues and I met with Nobel Peace Prize winner, María Corina Machado, to ask her about how she sees her homeland now that Maduro has been removed. Machado is as determined as ever to see a better future for the Venezuelan people. She has my continued admiration and support.

I met with Chinese Ambassador Xie Feng to discuss many shared interests and areas of disagreement between the U.S. and China.

I commend Ambassador Xie for his willingness to discuss these issues with me, and I hope China can help bring an end to the war in Ukraine and ease tensions in the SCS.

America could restore its leadership on human rights and right past wrongs.

Instead, the Trump Administration is expanding Guantánamo Bay to unjustly and inhumanely detain migrants.

We have to close it once and for all.

🚨BIG NEWS: This is the moment the Senate passed my bill to combat nonconsensual, sexually-explicit deepfakes.

Grok is out of control. AI can’t be unregulated.

I teamed up with @ocasio-cortez.house.gov to stand up for victims who’ve had their autonomy taken from them by AI.

Let’s get it done.

The first detainees arrived at Guantánamo Bay twenty-four years ago.

The prison at GTMO is a stain on our nation’s history—and it’s time we close it once and for all.

It was a pleasure to meet with students from Washington University in St. Louis who are participating in its Civic Fellows Program through the Gephardt Institute. This program helps prepare the next generation of leaders, and I look forward to seeing what these students accomplish.

These international orgs provide basic health care for women & children, advance democracy, and address extreme weather events. Trump’s withdrawal allows our adversaries like China to fill the vacuum and damages our interests around the world.

How does this make America great again?

Mr. President: put up or shut up.
If you have credible evidence of fraud, present it publicly. I will join you in addressing it.
If you have no credible evidence of fraud, stop penalizing innocent, needy children.
Picking on kids is not presidential.

Happy New Year! May your 2026 be filled with much love and success.

Across America, families are demanding we do something to address their skyrocketing health insurance premiums. My Republican colleagues must start listening to these families and work with Democrats to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.
December 29, 2025 at 2:50 PM
Merry Christmas to all those celebrating in Illinois and across the world! I hope you and your families have a day filled with light and joy.

The Trump Administration has gone too far.

The majority of Americans believe that—and so does the Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority.
December 23, 2025 at 10:21 PM
To my congressional Republican colleagues: The first order of business when Congress returns in the new year must be lowering Americans’ health insurance premiums. Otherwise, millions will lose their insurance or see a doubling of their premiums.

@shaheen.senate.gov and I met with Bogdan Klich, Head of Mission at the Polish Embassy, to discuss Poland’s important role in NATO and its continued support for Ukraine.

We must stand strong together—the United States, Poland, and Ukraine—to push back against Putin’s relentless march of aggression.
December 18, 2025 at 3:36 PM
This is one of the cruelest things I’ve ever heard a president say.

He is well known for his cruelty, but this is a new depth amid this terrible murder.
December 15, 2025 at 10:02 PM
President Trump has killed at least 87 people without due process.

The Administration refuses to provide any evidence justifying lethal force.

Stop the boats. Confiscate and destroy the drugs. Prosecute the traffickers.

No American is required to CARRY proof of citizenship.

We don’t live in a “papers, please” country.

Workers deserve a fair playing field everywhere—including baseball.

Great to meet with Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Director Tony Clark in D.C. this week.

If you have the nerve to speak on child safety here, you should on the Senate floor and everywhere else you can as well.

Big Tech’s time to police itself is over. Time to legislate.
December 11, 2025 at 2:15 PM
I’ve met far too many grieving parents who lost kids to the Internet.

Tamia Woods lost her son James to suicide after a devastating online attack.

We’ve seen enough. Big Tech won’t act—so Congress has to.
December 10, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Affordability isn’t a ‘con job,’ as the President has claimed. It is an issue top of mind for any American struggling under President Trump’s economy.
