The gates to the aristocratic Hightown district, watched over by the statues of the old Queen's procession - who lit the way for the delegates of the noble houses when council was held.

Tbh sometimes you just need a nice 7/10 linear shooter. Especially now that everything is an open world rpg-lite live service everygame.

At some point I'll go through the Alien and Pred campaigns too.

Why hasn't there been a new AvP game since 2010?

Finished the Marine campaign on hard with lowered expectations and had a good time overall. There's a lot you can criticize and some design is very "of its time" but the xeno combat can be genuinely fun in the same way as AvP1 and 2. Overall decent 7/10 experience.

The synth enemies suck tho

Time for my every-few-years check to see if my standards have fallen low enough yet to enjoy this game

tbh it's probably not as optimized as it could be, since I'm still using nav meshes. But basically it's just really careful about how often paths get recalculated, and none of the enemies are skinned meshes.

It's a bit more like isometric EDF (or EDF-themed Alien Shooter) but with a lot of other random ideas. One of my concerns is that it doesn't fit neatly into a specific genre other than "action" so it'll be a little harder than normal to reach the prospective audience.

For the most part I'm just working on it quietly until I have something more presentable to show (and a Steam page to direct people to lol GOTTA WISHLISTMAX), but it's fun to share random dev stuff every so often!

Yup B.U.G.B.I.T.E is what I've been working on since shipping Butcher's Creek. But I haven't officially announced it and it won't be finished any time soon (soonest would be later half of 2026, maybe even longer). I'll do a YT video about it soon.

Is this your new game? I failed to search for it 😓

There will be a level editor included with the game so people will be free to make Ants.wad and destroy their computers.
duskdev.bsky.social
Yup! Kind of. It's inspired by Alien Shooter and EDF but goes in its own direction. I'll do a video about it soon.

In terms of actual gameplay there are significant diminishing returns after like a few hundred enemies onscreen and it works better to spawn less enemies over a longer period of time vs tons of enemies at once. Still though, it's cool that it's technically possible.

So for fun I decided to test how stable B.U.G.B.I.T.E remains while spawning an ant every frame with no limit on the number of ants.

It actually remains shockingly playable until you start reaching several thousand of enemies. Kinda proud of that, given these are all navmesh agents.
duskdev.bsky.social
Yeah that's kind of the main problem. AvP1 and AvP2 exist and are peak

I see Weyland Yutani found the argent energy

Ok, so there's definitely still the 7th gen shenanigans I remember hating but I *will* say that playing this game on hard instead of normal makes the combat more fun than not at all. Idk what all it changes but I swear the aliens move faster.

So after my Skibidi Toilet Tweets it appears that Bonkers *removed all the pictures* of the Ultrakill nailgun (and 40k chainsword) from toy listings on Amazon, Walmart, Target etc.

But I knew there was no way they removed them from the actual toys.

SO I ORDERED THEM FOR MYSELF.
