Yes, the developers of Little Nightmares 1 & 2.

(14/14) it's somewhat representative of Hinako's fear/self-ingrained hatred of what "girly girls" are like.

Just wanted to write some in defense of Rinko, since seen some hate she gets, & I think a lot of people are GREATLY misunderstanding her character in Silent Hill f.

(13/14) game is trying to convey. I think it's even with intent trying to make a version of Rinko that plays into misogynistic views of women, due to Hinako's own somewhat younger self hating being seen as girly (& why she throws the doll away when she's younger tied to this),

(12/13) the modern Rinko is doesn't play into the ulterior motive of any of the Gods, or the half of Hianko who wants to view her friends as holding her back, etc.

I see a lot of people hating Rinko, how she "deserves" things that happen to her. But I don't think that's what the

(11/12) faults in the past, how Hinako's friendship was valued by Rinko & Hinako helped Rinko both make a new real friend but also helped her face herself to be truer to herself, & wants to reconnect.

But this version of Rinko is pushed out by all the forces that be, because all

(10/12 small insights into the real modern day Rinko, when the cast is all adults, & how she's matured, found herself, self-reflected, & become more her own person. Not perfect, but on a road to growth, who makes an effort to reach out to Hinako older now to both express her

(9/12) character we see the toxicity of a "Man's Woman", womanhood as defined in their value to a man according to the patriarchy, who's identity is tied fully to what they're taught in the patriarchy a woman is supposed to be, & how that turns women on other women.

But we get

(8/12) We establish she was competitive, from a well-off family, & raised to be "elite". That a younger her wasn't really in-tune with herself because she dedicated herself to being "good" in the eyes of her parents, society, & what a "woman" is supposed to be. And through her

(7/10) Rinko's boss form appears as a male priest & I think this reflects how Rinko in trying so hard to be feminine is actually caught in the patriarchy. That her definition of feminity is defined by men's definition of women, & her boss form reflects that she's in a man's image
November 19, 2025 at 8:51 PM
(6/10) paint her in the worst light. The Fox God wants to kill all of Hinako's friends, Tsukumogami doesn't trust Rinko since the real Rinko is happy for Haniko's marriage, & Hinako's fox half remembers Rinko in a very particular way due to Hinako's own jealousy of Rinko.
November 19, 2025 at 8:49 PM
(5/10) moved away from Ebisugaoka before Hinako's wedding, the version of her we're dealing with the entire game doesn't have much of the "real" her in there even compared to other characters. She's also unanimously hated by all the forces in the game. & I think all are trying to

(4/8) real entities. If you notice, after Rinko's boss fight (which we'll get to), Rinko actually just completely disappears. from the game. In NG+ you get introspective letters from Rinko to Hinako where a more mature Rinko writes candidly to Hinako.

I think it's clear Rinko

(3/8) Hinako's perspective of what's going on in SHf is very murky. In the SH series there's manifestations of people who are somewhere between real, fake, dream, manifestation. Think Lisa from SH1, Maria from SH2, Leonard from SH3, Walter from SH4. These sorta tulpas, or halfway
November 19, 2025 at 8:40 PM
(2/8) I think the biggest clue to the absolute tragedy of Rinko in SHf is a few really easy to miss or overlook pieces of dialogue. One such example being if you stand & wait in front of where you execute her in the cage, she'll eventually yell, "I want out of your world!"

(3/3) thought to how it "works" on all three layers of the story (the "Real World", Hinako's "Shattered Psyche", & the world of "God & the Supernatural"), that everything in the game works on all three layers of the story but in different ways.

(2/3) most supernatural explanation.

If you want my thoughts, I think the writers wrote the story on 3 "layers" & made sure it worked on all 3 layers. The "Real" world, the "Drug/Fog" world in Hinako's psyche, and the "Other/Supernatural" world. Basically everything in the game I think is given
November 18, 2025 at 8:51 PM
(1/2) I think it's purposefully ambiguous, they make it clear that Hinako is an unreliable narrator and what we're seeing isn't precisely how it is (even Hinako herself is shown to not see fully what the player is seeing), and there's doubt & shade casted on both the most grounded explanation & the

(3/3) psychological horror tying it into a supernatural scope of cosmic & existential horror & mystery. Playing into the religious guilt, & mythologies basis on guilt.

And even this is just scratching on some of the game's themes, which SH is supposed to be multi-layered I feel.

(2/3) not conforming to their expectations of you, it being viewed as an insult to them for just being yourself. That even some people who take part in it aren't bad people, but it's a poison infecting everything & how it's passed along. Then taking the very human foundation &
