Without even thinking, she got down on one knee and bowed her head before the king and heard more than saw Farim beside her do the same – a lesson learned long ago, taught by her papa when they had just begun introducing her to the people of the First. Farim had always been the more polite one of the two of them, always remembering to bow and thank the king, but that didn't mean she didn't remember her manners when it mattered most.

It started off as a joke, but then became completely canon. Aristaeus made the phurbles originally as a joke, but Hades hated them so fucking much that Hythlodaeus pushed it through and approved the concept. Somehow they didn't change at all post-sundering.
