😲 Thank you ‪@kevinmkruse.bsky.social for all the support and encouragement over the years!!!

This book started with discussions in your office, where I always chewed gum too loudly!

Just got my copy of this brilliant new book by my former student @m-r-glass.bsky.social, an amazing new study of postwar suburbia on Long Island.

Check it out!

Well, off to bed for me.
Hope I can get to sleep.

(Wondering if I still have the steeljaw rabbit trap somewhere? Highly illegal to use now - and cruel - but hmm. memories)

Dad used to use an old wire-frame single bed base for harrows on the 'clearance' around the house.
Hook it up to the back of the holdedn rather than get the tractor out. Quick'n'dirty but worked.
Didn't do a bad job either.

Screw it down, wind it round!
(and don't forget the extension length of galv waterpipe for additional torque)

Don't laugh, but I have my dad's old chain fence strainer.
The tension that can put on - enough to lift a post sideways.

So many tools went missing when I moved. Pretty good idea where to, sadly
The one I miss most (apart from the drill press) was my shepherd's axe/fokos/hikers axe
Combination walkimg stick/light axe (with an extended hammer-head) on the non-blade edge
OH SO USEFUL around the farm/yard for small jobs

Once upon a time, I'd have grabbed a metre of cheap pine and sawn/sanded to shape in a weekend, since it doesn't need to be structural.
Hands/wrists won't let me do that any more. GRRR

Might have to go the paper mache over PVC tubing route
Will consider ...
