I think my first one was a parallel port one. At some point I bought an internal one as well. When I moved from Europe to California, I backed up my data on a couple of Zip disks and lost everything!

After the first bit of milling and a visit to the bandsaw (which is the fastest mill in the shop), the part is starting to look like a coupler.

I’m reading this while working on my model railroad. More specifically, I’m duplicating the white metal cast part in the middle of the photo by milling a block of brass. This is part of a coupler.

If you want to do a deep dive into these locomotives, this is the book to get. It pictures of every locomotive, plus pictures of parts and sub assemblies as well as complete drawings.
