I like how far away from everything we look: in our own distant corner of the world. Long may that last!

I was browsing for some scifi to read the other day: so many novels about machines with consciousness & feelings (& how humans learn to love & respect them as fellow sentient beings)! I found myself recoiling & wondering if all those stories we've told have prepared us badly for this moment.
