A treasure trove of ever changing graphical shapes, the dead trees in Namibia's Deadvlei, against a backdrop of towering red dunes, never disappoint. Namibia's east winds often turn its coastal dunes into an unnavigable inferno. We went straight in! Blowing sand stung our feet, pelted our equipment, filled our eyes. But time stood still: We were immersed in a world of astonishing beauty, gone too soon For an all too brief moment, a giraffe is enveloped in a sea of golden light, a short-lived respite from the harsh, arid and unforgiving land it calls home. For a short lived moment, the soft light of the morning sun draws beautiful, dreamy bands of satin across the tips of these otherwise inconspicuous dunes in Namibia's mesmerizing Sossusvlei region.
