Space Quest 3 went there, too
Screenshot from Space Quest 3, a 1989 adventure game by Sierra On-line with 16-color, 320x200 EGA graphics (most of the screenshot is composed of grey, CGI pink/red, and blue). Screenshot is at the in-game location of “ScummSoft”, an evil software company. The image features rows of programmers in small cubicles, above and between them on two catwalks are larger guys walking back and forth cracking whips (which were based on executives at Sierra at the time of the game’s development). A much larger cubicle is off to the right side of the screen, as well as the game player’s character Roger Wilco (wearing grey janitor’s overalls to blend in since he’s not supposed to be there, but Roger is himself actually really a janitor, as seen in Space Quest 1 & 2 so the outfit is appropriate).

I went to the Apple News aggregator to see if it offers any mentions. The only one so far in my scrolling is because I apparently follow Advocate on Apple News. However, I see ABC+affiliates, Newsweek, Salon, USA Today, Fox News, Huff Post, and others have articles as of 5 hours ago.

As angry as [waves arms around] all this gets us, it’s healthy to seek & acknowledge the beauty that persists, and to be kind to those who aren’t doing us harm. I know this sounds like cliched platitude. Getting physical activity and seeing beauty in the cracks (and fellow thinkers) keeps me sane.
Common morning glory (intense purple flower with somewhat ragged heart-shaped green leaves) growing out of an imperceptible crack between paved road and ridiculously-high yellow “curb cut”. Morning photo, so there’s an amount of blue light here I couldn’t easily eliminate via iPhone adjustments. PS: Yes, this was a curb cut; there are many in my town that look like malicious compliance.

Went to read about a PA-original restaurant chain; oh Pennsylvania🤦🏽‍♂️ I know this is from 1994, but creepy sexist guys have been an infestation everywhere. I wish I’d been actively hostile to sexist creeps when younger, instead of merely being a non-participant.

Because I want to help pollinators (I’m aware my individual acts are nothing in comparison to societal policy that’s destroying everything), I risk being harassed by the borough by keeping wildflower spaces in my yards. Here’s a side benefit: photos of beauty!

Another modification of the “that foreigner wants your cookie” painting where Rupert Murdoch is propagandizing a white working man about being afraid of his cookie being taken by a brown-skinned immigrant… in this one, Murdoch is literally encased in ALL THE COOKIES. I forgot to put alt text on the prior one I shared which is the same concept, except Murdoch’s got a huge pile of cookies instead of just a bunch (in all cases, the immigrant has zero). The original artist’s name is never shared and I forget who it is, but his Facebook profile is public and the original painting (which these posts are replying to) is there in his image gallery.

A pale orange spider-type creature that’s ugly as sin and I think you’d be better off if I didn’t describe it. The fucker looks like it was created for a scifi horror. It has a very large abdomen that almost looks albino scorpion-like without a stinger, and it has extra … thingies coming out of its head that look like legs but probably aren’t (??). Its head looks like a ginger white man with beady eyes too close together, and its giant-ass mouth parts look like a beard. Does not look like a British royal. Photo of Prince Harry with a beard. Sticking with cats as a theme… GF sent this to me, saying:

Amazon marketplace product screenshot. What stands out is the product photo (??) of a soft-canvas (?) blue & black cat carrier on plain white background: Sticking out of the open cat carrier is a deeply uncanny valley cat that’s been edited into place. It’s not enough that the cat has been awkwardly composited into the carrier, no no no. Whoever created this image, to advertise this pet carrier on Amazon, also chose to apply fucking makeup to the cat’s face. Human makeup. Mascara. Lipstick. Giant, human-styled, fake eyelashes. Blush. What the goddamned fuck? The cat’s mouth is open and its tongue is protruding as if licking delicious gourmet cat food off of its cheek. I’m not sure that tongue is even a real tongue; it too may be composited or drawn in. The choices made here for this product image are beyond baffling.

These are spread all over the ground underneath their trees now. I think I walked through about four spots of these, maybe more. First time I’ve taken a photo.

Good walk today. Listened to Depeche Mode.
Subject: A mostly white flower that looks vaguely like an orchid (is that remotely helpful in alt text?), with slight streaks of purple spreading outward from the core, that end up as speckles toward the outer areas of three of the four(?) large curly petals (top petal is just white). There are two bright yellow streaks at about 4 & 7 o’clock, coming from the inside of the flower core, like landing strips for the insects they’re probably intended to attract. Background (blurry): my hand holding this discarded flower, and, further back, the paved walkway of a rail-trail, with lots more of these discarded flowers scattered around. Tiny bit of grass at the top left.

I’m not sure what any of this is and iOS fails to help because it’s a clump of different plants crowded together and plant ID considers only one subject per photo 🤷🏽‍♂️ It’s very pretty though. The purple flower might be Browallia speciosa. It looks superimposed due to coloring & camera peculiarities.
A conglomeration of pretty and colorful plants and flowers. The primary subject from the center to the left is a curly yellow-edged red-leafed plant I haven’t identified. On the far right is a tiny yellow flower I also haven’t identified. Above that is a bright purple flower that’s possibly Browallia speciosa. Then there are green leaves and a mostly blue sky above. Multiflora Rose flowers. Fairly tall and bushy hedge-type growth along the rail trail.
Small, white-petaled flowers, with yellow sex parts near the center and an undeveloped bud that is like a tiny pink rose, toward the center left of the image. This is part of a larger hedge-like green plant or plants making up the background. I’m hungry. Gonna make myself a sammich now.

Most of the identification being done here is via iOS’ Photos app. I’m confirming names as a thinking human, but it offers a frequently-correct suggestion I can confirm via similar images search. This is the one use for tech mislabeled “AI” that I find actually helpful.
Small, white, slightly spikey trumpet-like flowers in a cluster, on a green stalk, surrounded by green leaves and a bit of blue sky above. Every time I write an alt text description, I feel like I’m helping give free labor to OpenAI and the like. If they’re reading this, no, you don’t have permission to use my images and text to feel your gluttonous business’ pathological tech.

This might be “Lamium maculatum (also known as spotted dead-nettle, spotted henbit and purple dragon)”.
Small, purple and white, bell-shaped flowers growing from stalks that have green leaves with a brush-like stroke of white down their middle/spine. The growth pattern and leaf shape reminds me of mint species, but I didn’t check to see if the stalks are square.

Honeysuckle might be invasive in my region, but it’s very pretty and smells lovely

Finally out walking in the sunny, breezy loveliness of my local rail trail. There’s still urban noise, but I must do this. Yeah, I'm posting on social media while walking. If *loneliness* makes you resist the healthy impulse to walk, you are known & understood. Now go out and walk. You can do it!

Some Arizona desert grass of some type... The post-rain season is when things are beautiful there. I'm not a fan of the dry seasons (all other times).

A slightly better version of the previous posting of this same photo. Macro photograph of a dandelion flower in all its yellow niceness. It's centered in the photo, while the background of the yard is fully blurred into abstract greens and... uh... greyish browns? This photo is detailed enough to see the distinct parts of the dandelion flower, which I myself never noticed until I did macro shots of them.
