160. IT: Welcome to Derry

The best show I’ve watched this year and it’s not particularly close. Gruesome, inventive, and filled with some truly shocking plot twists, Welcome to Derry is everything you could ask for from an expanded adaptation of one of Stephen King’s most seminal works.

159. Dust Bunny (2025)

Dust Bunny is a bizarre and visually stunning film that feels like watching someone’s fever dream, full of creativity and whimsy that underscores its often shocking cartoon-esque violence. Howevr, its goofy tone never lets you forget that it’s meant to be a fairy tale.

158. Silent Night Deadly Night (2025)

Not so much a remake as it is a reimagining, this version of Silent Night Deadly Night is surprisingly even-handed between drama and the camp this franchise was always known for. It’s shockingly well made, and even manages to be actually moving at points.

157. Wake Up Dead Man

Another fantastic entry in the Knives Out franchise, although this one has a much more serious tone than the prior two. The conversations around religion and faith were something I was not expecting, but they work very well when juxtaposed against the central murder mystery.

156. Eternity (2025)

A sweet little dramedy that makes a rather grim subject matter digestible, sometimes to its own detriment. The vision of the afterlife this film creates feels banal and very clinical, which makes its emotional narrative feel a lot stronger than a more traditional approach.

I was expecting a lot of things, but I wasn't expecting that ending

If you liked Bg3, you will most likely really enjoy Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity Original Sin 2

I'm glad I slept through this, but Bradley the Badger, Divinity, and that new Control game are all legitimately exciting. It's so cool we're finally getting a spiritual sequel to Eat Lead.

155. The Studio (2025)

While it can sometimes feel a little restrained by context of being a Hollywood product, this is a rather scathing satire of the studio system that gives some insightful critique about the politics of how things in entertainment get made. It's also absolutely hilarious.

154. Five Nights at Freddy's 2

A more focused story this time still doesn't quite land when the stakes never feel urgent. Having said that, the pure movie magic of seeing the Jim Henson Company's practical animatronics move never loses its impact, and that carries a lot of the film's shortcomings.

153. Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

This is the definitive way the movie is meant to be seen, one big four and a half hour epic with Uma Thurman’s single best performance. All the extra footage included here is marvelous, and inhabiting this world again is just such a joy. What else to say?

I thought it was fine, honestly. It’s a pretty average horror film with some fucking INCREDIBLE costume and puppetry, some of the Henson Company’s all time greatest work, particularly with the Mangle puppet. Worth seeing for that aspect alone and what they achieved in puppetry.

This might be a weird suggestion, but you should look into a therapist that specializes in creatives, since that’s been a more and more common specialty. It’s always been a thing due to Hollywood being Hollywood, but with influencers, it’s become way more common.
