The past few months have been tough, and we just want to say thank you. In the beginning, it felt like we were yelling into the wind, no one was listening. But then you all showed up. You raised your voices, shared the truth, and made the media pay attention.

1/ We “deep state bureaucrats” are still here—still doing the work to protect public health, despite Trump’s efforts to bully, silence, and erase us.

We’re not in it for attention—and definitely not for the money.

We do it because it matters.
Former CDC staff warn of "a five alarm fire"
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has laid off thousands of workers since January. Current and former CDC staff are grappling with uncertainty about both their futures and public health.

Despite promises of cuts from Trump and Elon, the U.S. spent about $220 billion more in the first 100 days than it did last year. We’re spending far more and getting far less. So where is all the money going?

Friends. We are being hammered from every side with bad news. It’s easy to give in to fear and powerlessness. But we are not alone and we do have tools. We must use them while we have them: call your elected, show up in offices, talk to media, boycott, go to protests. We must fight back. links 👇

Systems of oversight are an important part of government—and they’re being undermined in ways the American public should know about. 18F alum @jacobharr.is is collecting details on how this is happening.
The Assault on Oversight in the Executive Branch
Not too many people outside of government understand how many laws are enforced entirely through oversight. The DOGE/Project 2025 plan has subverted these norms for its own ends.

We have a new landing page for you. We shipped the first version of the site in 5 days in February and our (lack of) design showed.

Thanks to our fantastic product designer, we made the leap into "thoughtfully designed."

Your thoughts, @mcuban.bsky.social?
BREAKING — DOGE will descend upon Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) buildings tomorrow, an agency source tells me.

FDIC is responsible for insuring all commercial/personal US bank accounts for up to $250k and regulating banks. Scary in light of Trump’s manipulation of markets this week.

is right. You can humiliate and fire us. But we will not stay down. Because we truly believe in our mission. We fight for people. We fight for kids. For the right to survive and the hope to thrive.

Goodnight friends. Get some rest.

Take a guess which one they will go after next in support of banks making profits at the risk of consumer deposits
Sometimes you just have to ask—why? The Senate voted to strike down a rule capping most bank overdraft fees at $5, a measure introduced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that was expected to save Americans billions each year.

Federal employees are OK with a shutdown, if it gives needed leverage to stop the cuts. A short shutdown (<a week) can have benefits, if the DEMs could actually be assertive.

We’re receiving word that General Services Administration leadership are firing more people tonight. Our dedicated colleagues should be eating dinner with their families or putting their kids to bed, not having their lives upended. The public will suffer, too. We stand with all of you.

❗ALERT❗ There are 3 congressional seats up for election (FL-1, FL-6, NY-21), 2 with voting starting in 3 weeks (links below). Media has been strangely silent on this 🤔 Congress is 218 R, 215 D. If we pick up 3 seats, we gain control of the House. A major step towards stopping Trump’s agenda

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:
