I’m trying hard to talk myself into this one. Is there anything to developments in sports science/recovery etc to indicate that the peak ages for players are getting older?

I’m wondering if there was something to him injuring his hand. He had trouble throwing the football

@michaelcaley.bsky.social love the spurs rant. Would love to hear the unedited version. Would your opinion change if they sign a passer this window?

I disagree. The squad was horribly constructed and the club did Ange no favors. However, he 100% contributed to last year’s injury crisis. His rotations were nonexistent and he rushed players back before they were ready (eg- vdv at the Chelsea game).

You thus can’t absolve him of the games when he was without vdv and Romero. Remember the Chelsea game last year when he rushed vdv back from injury and vdv reinjured his hamstring.

You shouldn’t ignore the other games. Yes, Ange got the first 11 playing better, but it was in part predicated on running more than the opposition. You therefore can’t ignore the fact that he was poor at rotating and the team suffered a ton of injuries.

Do you remember exactly when in the cycle the break occurred? I remember it was in part after Katrina. I can’t remember the timing of events leading up to that election. I will be curious of the GOP’s reaction to Trump after the primaries, ie if swing district Rs break with him in the general.

I’m trying to remember 2006 and how much the GOP separated themselves from Bush during that election. I think that is a useful comparison point.

OTOH would you want a defensive possession manager? Possession does not always equal attacking football

I don’t understand how we can prioritize “solidity” and allow so much time and space right in front of our backline. It feels like one of Betancur and Paulinha are always out of position and the opposition has a ton of time and space in the pockets in front of our back line. Frustrating

Tbh it’s more simple and more damning- his lone idea for beating a press is to lump
it to the forward. When the fwd can’t control a long pass, you have to find a new way to advance the ball.

Was thinking the same thing. Although before 24, I think everyone would expect a VA Gov race to be closer than an NJ Gov race in a Dem wave.

They need a ton of help on OLine. Still surprised by the Tunsil deal
November 4, 2025 at 11:19 PM
Tbf, if CJ is out next week, is it fair to say the season could be over too? Should t we be focused on the draft in that case?

This is very interesting. Feel like this is in part Vinai. Somewhat neuters the power of a single sporting director and allows him to be the final decision maker.
October 15, 2025 at 11:27 AM
Yeah there were two outlier polls but otherwise everything seems consistent. I think your thought process is on point
October 13, 2025 at 1:38 AM
I’ve been trying to get a read of this race. I feel that the sparse polling and general vibes is making it seem close. How close…🤷🏻‍♂️. I’m curious in the environment what would be considered a Ciatarelli over performance

If that were the cases, that they were purely local community assets, shouldn’t they just rely on their local communities to support them? It seems that you are arguing that they should be able to rely on foreign support, but should be solely for the benefit of the local community?
October 9, 2025 at 1:37 AM
Isn’t it fair to say that all of the top clubs take foreign money to buy the best players, and create the best product? Why should a league match be the exclusive right of European fans? What would these fans say if the choice is to play some games in the US or have your league be irrelevant?

Yes, watching it I thought the xG was going to be more skewed to Bodo and the eye test was BRUTAL. But, taking away the penalty, which was pretty needless in my book, we were almost even on xG. Some of that is game state, but a Frank team seems to cede control which doesn’t lead to high xG chances
October 1, 2025 at 1:07 PM
How much can Frank fix the situation by not starting Betancur and Palhinha together? I feel like it’s really hard to find athleticism and ball progression in the midfield and they have prioritized the former. No great options, but maybe start Kulu deeper when he gets back?

Xavi. Would love to see him get more time at 10 against bottom half teamd
September 20, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Yeah saw that. Doesn’t mean that MGW wasn’t using us to get a new contract.
